Welcome to our website dedicated to Siberian cats breeding. SYBERYJSKA AMBA*PL is a small hobby cattery from the city of Gdańsk and its aim is to promote Siberian cats. Our cattery is run in home conditions and all of our cats ( breeding and non-breeding ones), by taking part in daily life of the household members, and surrounded by love and care, are confident, friendly and curious of the surrounding world. Cats are also full members of our family, and the whole house is adjusted to them. We fulfil the dream of having own animal very professionally, and hence every litter of kittens in our cattery it is both great joy and great responsibility. We do really care that Siberian kittens from our cattery get to responsible people who love animals, and who can appreciate the sense of one's and other's dignity, that is characteristic of Siberian cats. We devote time, effort and resources to education, development and socialization of kittens. The best reward is the joy, thanks and recommendations of new owners of our kittens.
The name of the cattery was created in order to draw attention to the plight of the Siberian tiger, the most beautiful and the biggest cat (as yet) existing on Earth, which is, however, threatened with extinction. Amba is the traditional name of the tiger in the Buryat language - spoken by a tribe living in the far east of Russia. Amba is a legend, Amba is a being, Amba the spirit of the Siberian taiga; nothing on Earth will be the same without it. According to beliefs of the Buryats, the day when the last Siberian dies is the day of the end of the world.
The cattery is registered in the TICA and FIFE Federations Our cattery is a member of the Baltic Feline, phenological club, belonging to the Federation of Felis Polonia Federation, associated in FIFE. We cooperate also with breeders and lovers of Siberian cats in the framework of the SIBPORTAL club.
The Siberian tiger, also known as the Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica), is a predatory mammal of the Felidae family, the largest subspecies of tiger. Only the Bengal tiger (P. t tigris) is comparable in size. The Caspian tiger (P. t virgata), a tiger of similar size, is considered extinct. The Siberian tiger is a subspecies of a low level of genetic variability.
Siberian cat, as Amba - the Siberian tiger, is a natural breed, not created artificially by the human; this breed used to live in the area of Siberia. Cat representatives of the indigenous breed are characterized by good health, they care of their kittens and have highly developed hunting instinct. They have a massive, slightly elongated body, and thick, fluffy tail. Their fur is of medium length, thick and waterproof. It`s great advantage is that it does not felt, which makes care of this breed simple - it is just enough to comb the cat with a brush once a week. Siberian cats are of medium to large size, and the females are much smaller than males. This is a slow-growing breed, reaching it`s full physical maturity at the age of 3-4 years.
Siberian cats are excellent family cats - they are very sociable and friendly, and very curious at the same time. They follow their master everywhere and observe them. These are the cats that attach to their owner and not the place, so they are called „ dogs in the cat's skin ”. Siberian cats are docile and understanding for children, they can easily make contact with other animals. They sensitize less than other breeds of cats because their saliva does not contain FEL D-1 protein - a strong allergen.
